School for the blind in New Delhi

(translated at no charge by Jens-U.H. Schweitzer)

When the blind kids leave the school for the blind, where they have been trained together with children without handicaps, they should be in the position to manage an independent life and earn something themselves by producing books, CDs and other things.

The first contact with the school was in february 2014. I was impressed of the job performed by the educators and the director of the school, especially by the way to manage the school and the effort to train the kids for the independent daily life. I was impressed also to see – in spite of their handicap – how the pupils produced books with braille, copied CDs for tuition purposes, managed their computers, heard e-mails and wrote e-mails themselves and assisted online those who had problems with their computer.

It is our aim to assist those kids in their training by:

  1. donating funds for training material: braille-paper, CDs, USB-Sticks, ball pen refills;
  2. donating funds for the personal needs of the kids: e.g. underwear clothing, soap, toothpaste a.s.o.;
  3. donating funds to buy food stuff, like oil for cooking, rice, dhal (leguminous dish), sugar, and others.
  4. It is also possible to sponsor certain pupils directly by donating a monthly subscription.

The headmaster is extremely open to cooperate with other schools and would be glad to install an exchange.
